Teen Actors Workshop
Make no mistake about it, as an actor, you are a filmmaker! Without good actors, even the greatest scripts would fail to become great movies. So, when we say that we are "developing the filmmakers of tomorrow" that means you, too! If you want to act in film but you've never been in front of the camera, or you have some theatre experience, maybe even some technical expertise but no real training as a film actor, this workshop is for you!

So you want to act in film but you've never been in front of the camera. Maybe you have some theater experience, maybe some technical expertise but no real training as a film actor. Our Teen Actors Workshop is designed to prepare our students for being on camera as quickly as possible. At The New England Film Academy, we will prepare you for the films you will be performing in during the program, as the Teen Actors Workshop is closely tied with the Filmmakers Workshop, and for the auditions you'll want to attend after the completion of the program. Auditions consist of reading scenes, so a major focal point of the Workshop will be placed on scene preparation. We will still teach techniques and exercises to use but everything will be done in relation to preparing for a scene. Students will also have the opportunity to be directed and filmed in a scene by their instructor. Their scene will be edited and shown at our “Premiere Night”, a screening night at the end of the program. Student’s scenes will all be put on a DVD compilation along with all the student films. So each acting student will leave the program with a DVD portfolio of all their summer work. Space will be limited to 10 participants.

Teen Filmmakers Workshop
Wanna be a filmmaker? Now you can. Learn how to format and structure a screenplay. Cast your own production. Rehearse and direct the actors. Learn the technique and subtle nuances of lighting a scene. Learn to get professional quality sound, shoot your scenes, learn to log and capture your footage on an iMac using Final Cut. Creating a time line, inserting footage and special effects, and building a soundtrack are among the post-production subjects to be covered. Collaborate with your fellow crew members as you fine tune your project and prepare to show it to the world. Are they ready? Are you? Got what it takes? You’ll have your chance to show us what you got this summer during our two-week workshop. Whether you are a first time filmmaker with a vision or an accomplished student filmmaker looking to hone your skills, this workshop will give you the inside scoop on how to make a movie that will leave people saying "Wow, I cannot believe that movie was made by a high school kid." By the way, we know you are not a kid, but they will say it anyway. You also get the added bonus of working closely with our Teen Actors Workshop that runs at the same time as our filmmaking workshop. One of the biggest problems a teen filmmaker can have is finding good actors. Each session will be limited to 15 participants. Hollywood’s waiting...

Young Filmmakers Movie Camp
Find out what life is like at a real Hollywood film studio. Campers are "hired" by Big Cheese Studios in an effort to revitalize the studios performance (they've been the worst studio forever!). In need of a string of hit movies Mr. Big Cheese himself has done the unthinkable and fired almost everyone at his studio (all except a few of his longtime cronies). He's counting on his new hires (All you campers!) to breathe new life into the studio and make some hit movies. Sounds easy, right? I don't know about that but I do know that it's going to be a blast as you find out what really happens behind the studio gates. Our two-week Young Filmmakers Movie Camp takes place in the world of Big Cheese Studios and is designed to offer something for everyone. Some want to learn all the tools needed for making their own movies, others just want to learn how a movie is made while others just want to act! Learning the basics of operating a camera, organizing a shoot, basic editing and working together in a collaborative environment will be the main focal points of the Movie Camp.

The group will split into groups and each complete a single project, of course that's assuming Mr. Big Cheese gives your idea the greenlight. If not, it's back to the drawing board.  All the movies will be screened at their World Premiere at the end of the workshop. Depending on each project’s needs, students will perform various tasks. Some may end up in front of the camera ("the talent") while others will be “behind the scenes” as directors ("the artist"), producers (don't trust these guys & gals), camerapersons or sound mixers. For those who believe they want to pursue a further education in film, this can be a great starting point. For others, it can be a two-weeks of something completely new and different...and FUN! Space will be limited to 15 participants.
